I watched it again the other day. Not really to watch it. I just had it on as noise while I was doing other things on my computer. At least that was the intention. I ended up watching it more than anything else. I realized right around the time Batman starts to train for the title fight that the movie's pacing picks up but also loses itself a little. Feels like at least another 20 minutes could have fit in there somewhere and really brought out the quality of some of the last few sequences. Namely the actual fight. What Batman did to trick Superman into taking the fight into specific areas to Batman's advantage. What Superman was doing just prior to saving Lois. The Doomsday battle could have easily had more going on (would have loved to see more Superman/Wonder Woman combo moves). A couple of other little things as well. Bit of dialog here and there to flesh some other ideas out would have been nice without feeling like too much. What do you guys think? Good as is, longer cut, or cut out some of the needless stuff to add more important material?
I felt like the UC was very well paced...apart from the lack of action after the first 20 minutes of the movie, the only thing I would have added are more Lex scenes going deeper into his motivations and methods to find out who Batman and Superman were.
Everything involving the JL and the Lex bullet.
I think thats good enough for making more tight and focused, and maybe the intro in that village.
Well, she was proving that Lex was behind the incident in Africa which led to the discovery that he was creating situations for Superman to look bad. Why do you think that's detached from the main narrative?
Well yeah, it was unnecessary all that investigation that lead to what? We had Batman manipulated, we have the world made believe Supes was all bad, and also we have Lois investigating all of this, while Batman was all paranoic hunting the kryptonite, we also have that dude that got his legs chopped of miniplot.
Lois investigating the Lex bullet
Batman investigating and hunting the kryptonite
Commite and Lex subplot
Lex and the senator? for use of Zod body
Dude angry against superman cause he got his legs chopped off.
Lex manipulating Batman
Throw in there Wonder Woman shennigans about the damn picture and the whole Justice league stuff and you got a really convulated movie, and I havent even mentioned the damn nightmare sequence nor Doomsday.
Is just that when I think of the movie I feel completly lost unless I really concentrate hard enough to piece together all the scenes that happen in the movie, that the only things I recolect are batman and supes fighting, why did you said that name and supes dying, eveything else is all a big fog in my head.
All of that is part of a single Lex narrative. They aren't different plots, just variants of the main narrative. They all lead to the same place (the rooftop scene).
